Author and pastry chef George Geary sampled doughnuts from around the country for his book “150 Best Donut Recipes Fried or Baked” and included Doughnut Plant as one of his favorites for USA TODAY.

“This Manhattan shop has mastered the square filled doughnut, which has its own patent. But it’s not just the shape that makes it stand out. The treats are made without trans fats, preservatives, artificial flavorings or eggs. The glazes use seasonal fresh fruit and fresh roasted nuts. And the fruit fillings taste right off the tree. “They sell out every day,” Geary says.”
